A Focus on the Figure: The Distorted Figure

Date: Friday, March 22, 2013
Time: 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Speaker: Michael Horowitz
Type: Drawing Class

Artist Michael Horowitz focuses on how to draw the figure in a series of Friday night classes (3/1, 3/15, 3/22 & 3/29). Using the Museum’s collections as inspiration, participants explore the figure through gesture, basic construction, basic anatomy and self-expression by using a variety of styles to draw a live, clothed, figure model.

The Distorted Figure
Sculptures by the 20th-century artist Alberto Giacometti are instantly recognizable by their elongated figures. After exploring the nontraditional figure, participants use a variety of media to produce expressionistic interpretations of the human form.
