"Boîte Alerte" is a green cardboard box, in the shape of a mailbox, that holds a variety of contents related to the eighth International Surrealist Exhibition at the Galerie Daniel Cordier in Paris in 1959. The items include an exhibition catalogue as well as a host of letters, texts, telegrams and postcards designed by or representing the work of the artists in the show. André Breton organized the exhibition, with Duchamp's assistance. EROS, the chosen them, is emphasized in the typography of the title: "Exposition inteRnatiOnale du Surréalisme." A deluxe version of the box holds Duchamp's "Laundress's Aprons."
