On view

This pine-paneled room of a Norman country house was rented by Édouard Vuillard’s friends, the Hessels, in the summer of 1910. The little girl in red is Denise Natanson, whose grandfather Adam commissioned from Vuillard the large painting First Fruits, also in this gallery. Her companion is Marcelle Aron, a cousin of the hostess, Lucie Hessel.
