| Untitled, 1966 Donald Judd American, 1928-1994 Galvanized iron and painted aluminum 40 x 190 x 40 in. (101.6 x 482.6 x 101.6 cm) Norton Simon Museum, Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Rowan P.1966.15a-e On view This sculpture displays Donald Judd’s deep concern with space and with the vitality it can provide in the composition of the object. The boxes can be mounted either on the floor or on the wall, changing the ways in which they are perceived, and the perception of the space in which they are placed. These practical responses to the site itself encouraged Judd to expand his interests into the landscape, culminating in his works in Marfa, Texas, where architectural, landscape and sculptural space all converge.
