On occasion, the major Los Angeles printshops would provide services for outside endeavors. Sometimes an artist would contract a printer to work on a self-published project; at other times, the printshop would donate its resources toward a worthy cause. In 1973, Cirrus produced five works to raise money for the Neighbors of Watts (NOW): four by Billy Al Bengston and one by Ed Ruscha, all of them printed by Ed Hamilton. NOW had been formed in 1965 by a group of women in the entertainment industry from the Westside to provide child care and community centers to support children in South Los Angeles.
