The mythical bird Garuda, the king of the birds, is the celestial mount or vehicle of the Hindu god Vishnu. Garuda is part-bird and part-human, and he personifies the wind, the sun and courage. He is often depicted with a bird beak instead of a nose, as well as powerful wings; his lower body is human, and sometimes he has bird-like claws for hands and feet.
