Dan Flavin: Maximalism
Date: Saturday, May 18, 2013
Time: 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Speaker: Michael Govan, CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director, Los Angeles County Museum of Art
Michael Govan first became acquainted with Dan Flavin both personally and professionally while working on the interior installation illuminating the reopening of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in 1992. In this lecture, to coincide with the installation of the artist's "monument" on the survival of Mrs. Reppin, Mr. Govan discusses Flavin’s career arguing that it was anything but minimal.
