Artist Holly Boruck takes students through the Norton Simon Museum, exploring the wide range of styles that artists have employed throughout history. Drawing inspiration from the collections, participants practice a variety of techniques to create original works of art within the galleries.
Printmaking & Composition
Investigating the exhibition Lessons of the Cherry Blossom, students learn about compositional balance coupled with the techniques of woodblock printmaking. Artist participants learn to recognize symmetry, asymmetry and radial balance, and how their use guides the eye through a work of art. Attendees create their own method of printmaking using scratchboard inspired by the prints featured in the exhibition.
All levels of experience are welcome. Each class is $20 ($16 for members), and space is limited to 18 participants. All materials and admission to the galleries on the day of the class are included. Online registration is required.
