Still-life paintings have always had a complex relationship with collecting. They are objects for art collectors, but they can also represent collections, both real and fictive. Dr. Anne Goldgar explores the relationships between material culture and collecting, the fashion for collecting and the desire to represent collections of objects in Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries. Presented in the Museum's theater.
