Speaker : Dr. Hans J. Van Miegroet, Professor and Chair, Dept. Art, Art History & Visual Studies, Duke University
Type : Lecture
Dr. Van Miegroet identifies key moments in the display of still life in the domestic environment in the 17th–19th centuries and in the genre’s presentation within the public museum. These fashions are then compared to the display of still lifes in the commercial art market, examining how economic incentives have informed the desire for collecting and exhibiting still lifes privately and publicly.
