What could be more fun than sharing an afternoon exploring the collections and special exhibitions through engaging tours, hands-on workshops and lively performances? The Museum makes all of this happen and more, with programs geared to kids and their families and friends. Program descriptions are below, and upcoming programs can be found by clicking here. Family Days

Held on select Saturday afternoons throughout the year, Family Day events are led by staff educators and include exciting kids' tours and art-making workshops.

Family Festivals

These weekend afternoon festivals are all about art, as visual and performing artists, professional chefs and more highlight artworks in the collections through workshops and performances.

Family Art Nights

Held on the second Friday of every month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., these programs combine learning about art and making art, letting the Museum's remarkable collection spark children's creativity.

Stories in the Afternoon

Reading books and making art projects in the galleries with a staff educator make this program a perfect way to introduce the Museum to young children. Held on the first and last Sunday of every month from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Young Artists' Workshop

In this two-hour program, children work with professional artists to create remarkable works of art inspired by the Museum's collection. Held once per season. 

Thursday Summer Fun

This seasonal program features themed tours and art workshops that delight children and their adult companions.

Family Audio Tour

Experience the Museum through an audio tour that provides an informative and entertaining way to learn about the European and Asian collections. More than 35 artworks are featured on the tour, with lively commentary, engaging questions and even the occasional joke.

Guides are available in English and Spanish for $3.00.

A Pocket-Sized Family Guide to the Norton Simon Museum

When you arrive at the Museum, pick up a free pocket-sized guide for families, packed with intriguing questions and fascinating facts about paintings and sculptures. Guides are available at the Information Desk in the Main Entrance gallery.
