The Norton Simon collections are rich with portraits, starting with Giovanni Bellini’s Portrait of Joerg Fugger from 1474. Examine painted portraits by such iconic artists as Ingres, Cézanne, Van Gogh and Picasso before turning to the arresting contemporary images found in Face It: The Photographic Portrait. Discuss how the conventions of portraiture were challenged by artists in the late 20th century.

Meets in Entrance Gallery | The program is free with admission and limited to 20 participants. | Please sign up at the Information Desk no later than 15 minutes prior to each session.
