DATE:
TIME:
11:00 am – 2:00 pm
Educator:
Beatriz Jaramillo

Join artist and educator Beatriz Jaramillo for a virtual workshop exploring relief sculpture techniques and proportions in the human head. After registering online, visit the Museum at your convenience to see the exhibition The Expressive Body: Memory, Devotion, Desire (1400–1750) and pick up your sculpting materials. Then, on November 6, join Beatriz online on for an examination of two works from the exhibition: Head of Christ, made in Mexico in the 18th century, and Madonna and Child by Luca della Robbia, made in Florence in the mid-15th century. Finally, using the supplied materials, create a portrait relief inspired by these artworks.

The fee for this hybrid class is $35 ($28 for members) and includes all materials and admission to the Museum. For those unable to visit the Museum in person, supplies will be mailed to your home (if you register at least two weeks in advance), and participants are encouraged to watch a video walkthrough of the exhibition with curator Maggie Bell.

Registrants will need to have the WebEx application installed on their device prior to the class. A WebEx meeting link and additional instructions will be provided a week before the event. Participants will need to use a device with camera and internet access. Late registrants will be sent a list of needed supplies. Questions? Email [email protected].
