Artist Albert Valdez leads a two-day painting workshop exploring the work of 19th-century Impressionists and Post-Impressionists in the Museum’s collections. Students look closely at selected works and investigate artists’ application of paint, use of hues, value, scale and composition. Through discussion and observation, students provide evidence of artists’ attempts at capturing movement, light, atmosphere and form. Students then apply their observations to create their own works of art.
