"In the end," Picasso famously remarked, "there is only Matisse." Join Museum Educator Anne Oshetsky as she addresses the celebrated rivalry and friendship between the two artists, which spanned half a century and helped set the course for modern art. Complementing the exhibition States of Mind: Picasso Lithographs 1945–1960, the tour begins in the 20th-century art wing, addressing works by both artists from the 1910s and 1920s, before delving into the exhibition of Picasso’s postwar lithographic output, which was entwined from the beginning with his admiration for Matisse.
