Drawing Fundamentals: Light & Form

Aristide Maillol (French, 1861-1944), Mountain, 1937, lead, edition of 6, cast no. 2, Norton Simon Art Foundation

DATE:
TIME:
4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
SPEAKER:
Richard E. Scott

Join artist and author Richard E. Scott in exploring line, form, perspective and movement in the Norton Simon’s collections. Working in pencil, students will learn how to see with the eyes of an artist, improve their confidence with various techniques and enrich their museum-going experience.

Engaging with works that highlight the effects of form and light, students will learn how to capture these elements in their own drawings. Students will gain inspiration from sculptures by Barbara Hepworth and Aristide Maillol, then create their own drawings that capture three-dimensional work.
