An Introduction to Art and Meditation
The Norton Simon Museum’s education department has created nearly three dozen brief recorded meditations paired with artworks from the collections. These online Meditative Moments are as a way to contemplate and interact with art on a deeper level and to provide a sense of solace at home. In this short video, Manager of Youth and Family Programs Mariko Tu introduces viewers to techniques to enhance these meditative experiences, and leads a short breathing and looking exercise on Kandinsky’s Heavy Circles, bringing a sense of calm to your mind and body.
