Checkmate! Chess at the Museum

Saturdays, September 6, 13, 20, 27 from 4:00–6:00 p.m.

On Saturdays in September, drop by the Museum’s lower-level courtyard and challenge a friend to a game of chess. Not a chess master? Learn the rules of the game from U.S. Chess expert Jay Stallings.

Coach Jay Stallings has been teaching chess to students from kindergarten to high school for more than two decades. He is the founder of the California Youth Chess League (CYCL), serving 35,000 students since 1993.

Space and chess sets are limited; no reservations are taken. This program is recommended for all ages and free with admission. Stop by anytime from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
