Drawing Breakthroughs at the Norton Simon: The “Hard” Problem of Drawing

Drawing Breakthroughs at the Norton Simon: The “Hard” Problem of Drawing
DATE:
TIME:
6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Teacher:
Richard E. Scott

Join artist and author Richard E. Scott in an exploration of the collections in this six-part drawing series. Each session focuses on common drawing problems and provides specific solutions to overcome these challenges. Working in pencil, students learn how to improve their skill, gain confidence and enrich their museum-going experience.

In the fifth session, students learn why linear perspective has challenged artists for centuries, and try a simplified solution to break through the confusion. Students apply the lesson by drawing works in the 14th- and 17th-century collections.
