Security, Gallery Attendant, Part Time
Performs a variety of security related functions, including protecting art and other property. Also provides assistance to visitors and staff during emergencies. Work days include Monday, Wednesday, Thursday from 11:30 - 5:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10:45 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Must be at least 18 years of age and available to work 4-days per week on days selected by security management.
Position requires good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to communicate professionally and tactfully with Museum patrons and staff from all organizational levels. This position also requires long hours of alert standing and moderate physical mobility and exertion in walking, climbing stairs. Position may require strenuous physical activity related to responding to emergencies or alarms. Gallery Attendants may be required to work outdoors and in occasional inclement weather. Must be able to bend, reach and lift up to 20 pounds. Uniforms provided by the Museum must be worn when on duty.
Major Job Responsibilities
- Assigned to galleries or exterior grounds to protect collection and other property from theft, vandalism, fire, illegal activity and any other hazard
- Remains vigilant; remains on post until property relieved and reports any concerns, problems or observed hazards to security management
- Maintains a calm, pleasant and professional demeanor at all times
- Assists with special projects as needed
This position pays $14.25 per hour.
