The goddess Prajnaparamita, portrayed in this figurine, is considered to be a personification of an important Buddhist text that shares the same name. The lotus bud in her left hand and a book in her right hand indicate that she embodies transcendental wisdom. As a deity associated with knowledge, Prajnaparamita is popular in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism, sects that place greater emphasis on bodhisattvas and supportive deities because of their crucial assistance to worshippers in attaining their goals.
