DATE:
TIME:
4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Teacher:
Richard Houston

Join artist and educator Richard Houston for a series of drawing classes exploring costume and draping of the clothed figure in the Norton Simon collections. Using artworks in the Museum’s Renaissance and Baroque galleries, participants learn how to design and draw the costumed figure.

In the second session, we will discuss how to analyze the different types of folds we see when drawing clothing and fabric. For this, we will use close observation of paintings by Raphael and Sandro Botticelli in the Italian Renaissance galleries to understand the principles and circumstances creating these folds.
