Paul Sérusier (French, 1864–1927), Synchromy in Yellow, 1900-1913, or 1915, oil on canvas, Norton Simon Art Foundation, Gift of Jennifer Jones Simon

DATE:
TIME:
4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Teacher:
Melissa Manfull

Join artist and educator Melissa Manfull for a series of drawing classes exploring the use of color in the Norton Simon collections. Draw colorful compositions with inspiration from artworks from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Students will be introduced to monochromatic and analogous color palettes and learn to create compositions that evoke balance and serenity. We will look at the work of Camille Pissarro and Paul Sérusier as inspiration. Taking an element from an existing painting, students will re-create the segment with three different monochromatic color palettes to see how the colors shift the meaning of the objects being drawn.

THIS SESSION IS SOLD OUT.
