The Artist's Space: Classical Linear Perspective

Student in drawing class

DATE:
TIME:
6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
SPEAKER:
Melissa Manfull

Examine composition and perspective in works from the Renaissance to the modern era, and explore how artists create the illusion of space in their work with artist Melissa Manfull. Consider how space is reinterpreted to create dramatic narratives and moody environments and discover how the viewer’s proximity to an artwork changes their perception of space within a piece.

One, two and multi-point perspective give the viewer an understanding of where the artist was when originally conceiving an image. Learn the basic techniques of linear perspective and identify how artists used this technique in the 17th to 19th centuries.
