My Four Kings: Galka Scheyer and the Blue Four

My Four Kings: Galka Scheyer and the Blue Four  at the  Norton Simon Museum will celebrate the modern art champion, Emmy “Galka” Scheyer, and her extensive collection of Blue Four artists—Lyonel Feininger, Paul Klee, Alexei Jawlensky and Vasily Kandisky. From December 13, 2002, through April 14, 2003, visitors will be able to see over 300 works from the collection by these four modern masters, whom Galka Scheyer affectionately referred to as “My Four Blue Kings.” Featuring oil paintings, watercolors, prints and drawings, the exhibition is the Museum’s most extensive showing of Blue Four artists in over 20 years. It not only highlights great works of modern art, but also reveals to visitors through personal letters and photographs, the extraordinary friendship between Galka Scheyer and the Blue Four artists.
