Spotlight on Conservation: Assemblage

Conservator John Griswold leads a series of videos examining complex conservation issues around some of the objects in the Norton Simon collections. In this video, Griswold looks at George Herms’s The Librarian from 1960, an assemblage sculpture comprised of items the artist plucked from the garbage, including books, papers and a stool, and the challenges involved in preserving such delicate, multi-media works.
