California Summer Border

This section of the garden is anchored by the towering Montezuma cypress placed near Mountain, the first of three works by Aristide Maillol that can be found in the garden. Nestled in the Jerusalem sage on the right of the path is Jacques Lipchitz’s electrifying Dance, and ‘Lady Scarlet’ daylilies can be found in abundance near the path’s edge on the left. Along the outer wall of the Museum are several colorful shrubs, including the orange-flowered lion’s tail, Leucadendron ‘Safari Sunset', the purple smoke tree, yellow yarrow, Chinese hibiscus, birds of paradise, and yellow kangaroo paw.
