At Tamarind, lithographs were usually produced in editions of 20, with a varying number of proofs. Nine proofs were designated as “Tamarind Impressions” and were either sold on a subscription basis to collectors who agreed to purchase every Tamarind Impression or were retained by the workshop. All of Ruscha’s Tamarind lithographs in the museum's collection were donated to the Pasadena Art Museum in 1971 and 1972 by a Beverly Hills–based subscriber who wished to remain anonymous.
