Virtual Tour: Benevolent Beings: Buddhas and Bodhisattvas from South and Southeast Asia

Assistant Curator Lakshika Senarath Gamage takes viewers on a tour of the exhibition Benevolent Beings: Buddhas and Bodhisattvas from South and Southeast Asia, which explores how buddhas, bodhisattvas and other protective deities have been seen to offer blessings, guidance and security to their devotees. Senarath Gamage highlights sculptures of Bodhisattvas Avalokiteshvara and Maitreya, as well a depiction of Buddha Shakyamuni from the Himalayan region, the largest gilt bronze in the Museum’s collection.
